The huge success of the iPad and iPad 2 did not surprise anyone. However the failure of Android Tablets such as the Xoom and Galaxy Tab to repeat the success of the iPad has surprised many as they were expected to give a lot of competition to the previous and current generation of the iPad. Ths e iPad is dominating the Tablet market with an 85 percent share while the nearest competitor is Samsung with an 8 percent share. Surprisingly the second runner-up is not Motorola but Archos with around 2 percent of the marketplace. There are other competitors in the marketplace but their share in the market is too small to count.
However this wont stop the onslaught of Tablets in 2011. RIM’s Playbook has hit the market while HP is also coming up with its own tablets. We hope that at least one Tablet can compete with the iPad 2 otherwise there wont be any innovation in the market.

It is no surprise to see big juggernauts like HP and Apple move to the Cloud. Apple has invested in around a billion dollars to create a data centre in North Carolina for its rumoured cloud based iTunes Service. HP is coming up with a cloud based service for its TouchPad (the rival to the iPad). HP will be coming up with its music service allowing people to store their music online and stream it to their HP devices (will also work with the Pre.)
Experts believe that HP will have a huge headache as it has contend with potential lawsuits and licensing headaches. Amazon is already facing problems with its Cloud based song storage service while Google might drop its service. It is believed that HP, Amazon and Google will serve as test models for Apple before they launch their service. Apple can easily fine tune its service based on the reaction of the labels to the services currently available. Cloud based music storage services will eventually happen and it won’t be long before Apple is also dominating this area.
